Question:I would like to know what the difference is between Tatbeer and blood donation. Which is better Tatbeer or blood donation? Both practices serve humanity, even though I prefer to donate blood?

Answer: In the name of Allah, If there is a believer in need of blood and there is no donor for him, then the donation is first before Tatbeer, if it is not possible to combine them by offering blood drops to Imam Hussein (PBUH) so that lady Zahraa (PBUH) will be his intercessor. Allah is the all Guide and Knowing.

Question:What is the opinion of the Shiites regarding Tatbeer (Tatbeer is an Arabic term which means hitting the head with knives or sharp instruments and/or hitting the chest or back with chains having small razors. In either way, blood is shed)?

Answer:In the name of Allah, I have said repeatedly that you can practice Tabbeer, only if the doctor prevents you or comes to know that it will lead to your death or according to the opinion of an experienced doctor that patient suffering incurable disease. In such cases, you are not allowed to practice this act. Allah knows best.
