Question:Is it proved to His Eminence that it is recommended to fast the Day of Nowruz?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is not proved that it is recommended. Allah knows best.
Question:What is your opinion regarding fasting the first day of Shaban as it is the tradition of Yahiya son of Zakaria (as)? It is to abstain from eating, drinking and speaking that he does not speak all the day and makes his silence as part of the fasting.
Answer: In the name of Allah, there is no clear-cut evidence proving this. Allah knows best.
Question:What is the ruling of fasting Ashura Day?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is not permitted to fast on the Day of Ashura. Yet, it is recommended that one abstains without intending to fast, provided that his abstention continues up to late afternoon. Allah knows best.
Question:Is it confirmed according to your Eminence that it is recommended to fast six days of Shawwal month after the Eid?
Answer:In the name of Allah, there is a narration with weak documentation saying what you have mentioned. It is found in the book “Man la Yahdharho Al-Faqeeh” vol 2 p. 80. However, there is no harm to fast with the intention of seeking closeness to Allah. Allah knows best.
Question:What is the ruling of fasting Ashura Day?
Answer:In the name of Allah, according to me, it is forbidden to fast on this day. However, it is surely recommended that one refrains from eating and drinking like someone who has got a plight and does not have the appetite to eat. This continues up to two hours before the sunset or less. Then, he eats like someone who is has got a plight and does not have the appetite. This is how the Imams (PBUH) were doing. Allah knows best.
Question:It is narrated that it is recommended to break the fast if a believer invites a fasting person for that, provided that he is on a recommended fasting. Does this invitation occur even with offering water?
Answer:In the name of Allah, yes it occurs if offering water is aimed at getting rewards. Allah knows best.
Question:My nephew was born in December 2003. I want to know when he must fast. His age now is 13 years, 5 months and 13 days. He performs the five prayers now.
Answer:In the name of Allah, he has reached the age of discretion (maturity age) and he has to perform all duties such as prayers and fasting... etc., if he completes 15 lunar years, coarse hair sprouts on the puberty area or he produces semen whether asleep or awake. Allah knows best.
Question:A person travels from his hometown to another destination, where he crossed the permitted distance, but he does not break his fast there. Then, he returns to his hometown before the sunset (Maghrib) and intends to complete his recommended fasting. Is it accepted?
Answer:In the name of Allah, yes it is accepted if he has not used any fasting invalidator. Allah knows best.
