Question:What is the ruling on using a waqf (endowment) for something other than what it was endowed for? In light of the pandemic of this cursed virus called Corona, may Allah protect us and you from it, the mosques have been closed until further notice. Now, with the approach of the holy month of Muharram, we have found advertisements from some of these mosques that have not opened their doors for prayer, that they will open for Husseini gathering, and they have not announced the resumption of prayer in them. So is this considered a violation of the waqf or not? And what are the consequences?
Answer:In the name of Allah, there is no prohibition on holding condolences and gatherings in mosques because they were established for worship, and holding condolences is a form of worship. Allah knows best.

Question:I learned in general that the prayer beads in my hand were taken either from the mosque where I pray or from the prayer area at my workplace. Now, I want to return the prayer beads because they are endowed, but I am unsure as to which of the two they belong. However, I have general knowledge that they are from one of them?
Answer:In the name of Allah, you should consult the supervisor of the mosque who manages its affairs and keeps track of its belongings. Perhaps they can determine if the prayer beads belong to the mosque or not. If you cannot do that, then return to your workplace and ask your colleagues. If you are unable to determine the status of the prayer beads, you should consider them as endowed to the mosque that may be their rightful owner. Purchase a similar set of prayer beads and keep it at your workplace among your colleagues. However, it is not permissible for you to use them for yourself. Allah knows best.
Question:Some of the behaviors of some mutawallis (mosque administrators or guardians) have spread recently, and we want to know the sharia ruling for them according to the opinion and paternal advice of His Eminence: 1. Some Mutawallis of mosques make a fence to the pavement and include it to the mosque. 2. Some Mutawallis dismiss those who do not like them for worldly reasons like discussing and showing the weaknesses of the Mutawallis.
Answer:In the name of Allah, the Mutawalli must abide by the sharia rulings and choose the ruling in preference to his personal desires so as to preserve his religion and the worshipping places from being lost. Allah is the Guide and Knowing.
