Question:If an animal is near death, is its meat permissible if slaughtered before it dies naturally?
Answer:In the name of Allah, if the slaughter is confirmed before the animal dies, the ‘Aqiqah is valid and the meat may be eaten by those permitted to eat it. Allah knows best.
Question:Some people do not give water to the animal before slaughter. What is the ruling?
Answer:In the name of Allah, the animal should be offered water before slaughter. Allah knows best.
Question:If the person slaughtering the ‘Aqiqah does not pray or fast, is it permissible for them to perform the slaughter?
Answer:In the name of Allah, if the conditions are met, it is permissible. However, Allah only accepts deeds from the righteous, as He says: “Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous.” (Quran 5:27). Allah is the Guide and Knower.
Question:Is there a narration from an infallible Imam that performing the ‘Aqiqah at home is recommended? If so, what is it?
Answer:In the name of Allah, no such narration with a reliable chain has been established. Allah knows best.
Question:Can adult siblings who are no longer under their father’s guardianship eat from the ‘Aqiqah meat?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is disliked for the father, mother, and their children to eat from the ‘Aqiqah meat; the safest course is to avoid it. Allah knows best.
Question:If multiple ‘Aqiqah animals for different families are cooked in a shared kitchen and the meats become mixed, can the parents of the newborn eat from it?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is disliked for the father and mother of the newborn and their children to eat from the ‘Aqiqah meat. The safest course is to avoid it unless they are certain that what they eat is not from their child’s ‘Aqiqah. Allah knows best.
Question:Is it permissible to give the meat of the ‘Aqiqah for gatherings commemorating the Imams (peace be upon them)?
Answer:In the name of Allah, yes, it is permissible. Allah knows best.
Question:Is reciting the ‘Aqiqah supplication obligatory, or is it sufficient to just mention the newborn’s name?
Answer:In the name of Allah, the one performing the ‘Aqiqah should either recite the narrated supplication while offering and slaughtering the animal for Allah, saying “Bismillah, Allahu Akbar,” or say, “O Allah, I sacrifice this animal as the ‘Aqiqah for [name],” and then slaughter it. Allah knows best.
Question:What is the duration of custody for a girl and a boy with the mother and the father, especially in case of divorce or separation?
Answer:In the name of Allah, know, my son, that the right of custody for both a boy and a girl is with the mother for seven years from the time of birth. After the mother’s custody period ends, the father has the right to care for his son and daughter until they reach maturity and sound judgment; he is their guardian and responsible for their affairs. Allah knows best.
Question:Is it permissible to name a person with their mother if the father is unknown?
Answer:In the name of Allah, if you mean to mention only the mother when stating the person’s lineage, there is no objection, and the father remains unknown. But if you intend to make the mother act as the father, that is falsehood, and the liar is cursed in the Qur’an. Allah is the Guide.
