Question:Is it disliked to divorce one’s wife without any reason?
Answer:In the name of Allah, know, my son, that divorce can be compared to a surgical operation that a patient may need, where he loses some of his organs in order to preserve his life. Allah, the Exalted, has made divorce with this concept in mind. It has been narrated from Imam al-Ṣādiq (PBUH): “There is nothing among the things Allah has permitted that He hates more than divorce.” There are both reliable and unreliable narrations to this effect. Moreover, divorce may result in other family misfortunes, and the children may be deprived of the full affection of the father or the full affection of the mother after their separation. Allah knows best.
Question:Is the presence of the two divorce witnesses required in the session of pronouncement, or is it sufficient for them both to hear the voice of the one pronouncing the divorce through the phone or similar means?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is sufficient for them to hear the voice as you mentioned, whether through such devices or otherwise. Allah knows best.
Question:In divorce, is it necessary to pronounce or write the statement three times, or is pronouncing the divorce formula once sufficient?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is sufficient to pronounce the formula once with the intention of enactment, and writing it is not sufficient. Allah knows best.
