Question:I am an employee of the government. The government takes part of my salary for public savings and always gives me profits on the money saved. Is this profit halal?
Answer:In the name of Allah, be advised, my son, that the saving that you have referred to in the question has different ways, the most important of which are two permissible ways. One of them is that what the government takes as a stockpile remains with it as a reserve for you to benefit from when you retire from work and the government pays you a pre-determined reward for your work and faithfulness in serving the country. This is permissible for both parties.
