Question:If someone wants to fast in the month of Rajab, which is recommended, and also to commemorate the Imam Ali Al-Hadi's (PBUH) martyrdom on the third of Rajab, is it still permissible to fast on the 3rd of Rajab? And if the answer is yes, what should be the intention?
Answer:In the name of Allah, if the person is not an obligatory fasting on that day, the intention for fasting should be for fasting the recommended fast. However, if they have a religious obligation to fast, they should prioritize that obligation, and then they can make the intention to fast the 3rd of Rajab with sincerity and earn the reward for it. Allah knows best.
Question:If a person is mandated to fast an atonement or missed fasting , is it valid for him to fast on the day of doubt, with the intention of complying with the actual order addressed to him?
Answer:In the name of Allah, this is not permissible. Rather, he has to intend to perform a missed fasting as it cannot be delayed because there would be atonement if it is deliberately done. Allah knows best.
Question: In Ramadhan, if I do not have the intention of travelling at night, but after dawn I decided to travel mandatorily or optionally, do I have to break my fast or offer it and then do Qadha’?
Answer: In the name of Allah, if you get out of your home town before the noon and cross the permitted distance, your fasting is rendered void, whether you intended to travel or not. Allah knows best.
Question:Regarding the day of doubt, is it permissible for one to intend to offer fasting in this way: “I intend to fast tomorrow for Ramadhan if it is Ramadhan and if not Ramadhan, then I do it as a recommended fasting of Sh’ban.”?
Answer:In the name of Allah, this is not permissible. However, he has to specify as either it is Ramadhan or Qadha fast, whether the Qadha is from Ramadhan or not. Allah knows best.
Question:At night, a person who is supposed to fast has the intention of travelling and he kept on his intention even after dawn. Yet, after dawn, he faced a compelling circumstance which prevented him from travelling. What does he do in this case?
Answer:In the name of Allah, in such case he has to intend to offer fasting and finish it. Having the intention to travel does not permit the person to break his fast unless he travels and gets out of his home town and crosses the permitted distance before the noon. Allah knows best.
