Question:If the deceased person left a will that the remaining one-third of his wealth should be spent on charitable causes, and his wife is poor or some of his children are poor, is it permissible to spend some of the one-third on them, and would it still be considered charity?
Answer:In the name of Allah, if the inheritance left by the deceased does not suffice to lift them out of poverty, then it should be spent to the extent of their need. Allah knows best.
Question:What is Islam's view on wills? Are they valid before death?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is a confirmed, recommended act to make a will, and some scholars even consider it obligatory, especially for those who have rights upon people or those who have rights of others upon them. Allah is the All-Knowing, and the Guide.
Question:My grandmother passed away, and we found in her will that a mourning council should be held for her every Friday night without specifying the duration. Should this be executed? If the answer is yes, for how long should we do it?
Answer:In the name of Allah, it is obligatory to allocate one-third of the inheritance for the fulfilment of this will. If the heirs agree, then the entire amount can be allocated for the execution of this will. Allah is the Guide and the All-Knowing.
