Grand Ayatollah Al-Najafy Eid al-Ghadir: A Heavenly Appointment, Completion of Religion, and Renewal of Allegiance 15/6/2025 ![]() |
* On the occasion
of the Greatest Eid of Allah , His Eminence bestows turbans on several
religious seminary students. His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Al-Najafy (may Allah
prolong his life) welcomed visitors from Iraq and abroad who came to
commemorate the blessed Eid al-Ghadir at the shrine of Imam Amir al-Mu'minin
(peace be upon him) in Najaf al-Ashraf. In his address to the delegations, His Eminence
emphasized that commemorating the day of Ghadir is among the most confirmed
practices in the traditions of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), due to its
profound theological meanings, including affirming the faith and renewing
allegiance to the guardianship of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him). He pointed out that Ghadir marks the divine appointment
of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and it is the day on which the religion was
completed as stated in Quranic verses and narrations. He clarified that Imam
Ali is the fortress of the religion and its disseminator of knowledge, and that
his virtues and noble qualities are beyond comprehension or enumeration. Furthermore, His Eminence (may Allah prolong his life)
noted that among the blessings of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is that the city
of Najaf al-Ashraf has become a global center of knowledge, producing prominent
figures in jurisprudence, thought, and science for centuries, who enriched the
Islamic arena with their scholarly contributions. He affirmed that Najaf today
stands as the capital of Shiism worldwide.
On this significant occasion, His Eminence bestowed the turban of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) upon a number of religious seminary students, both Iraqi and foreign, in a blessed scholarly tradition that symbolizes the continuation of the prophetic mission and the pursuit of knowledge. |
