Najaf, Iraq – The representative office of Grand
Ayatollah Al-Najafi in Najaf province organized a mourning ceremony to
commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (AS) and Muslim ibn Aqeel
(AS). The event was held at one of the headquarters associated with the
defensive jihad fatwa in the holy city of Karbala. During the ceremony, Sheikh Nabil Al-Kinani emphasized
the importance of honoring the sacrifices of Imam Al-Baqir and Muslim ibn
Aqeel, describing them as pivotal figures in Islamic history. "Their
unwavering defense of Islam and their ultimate sacrifices serve as enduring
lessons for all believers," he stated. Sheikh Al-Kinani highlighted Imam Al-Baqir’s scholarly
contributions, noting his role in preserving and disseminating Islamic
knowledge. Regarding Muslim ibn Aqeel, he referenced Imam Hussein’s (AS) famous
declaration: "I am sending to you my brother, my cousin, and my most
trusted confidant from my family – Muslim ibn Aqeel." The sheikh explained that Muslim ibn Aqeel’s trusted
position with Imam Hussein (AS) reflected his exceptional integrity and
reliability, distinguishing him from mere honesty. "Trustworthiness
requires not just truthfulness but also wisdom and discernment—qualities that
Muslim ibn Aqeel embodied fully," he added. The ceremony concluded with prayers for the hastened
reappearance of Imam Al-Mahdi (AJ) and expressions of solidarity with the
global Muslim community in remembrance of these tragic events.
The event underscored the continued reverence for these historical figures within Shia Islam and their symbolic role in resistance against oppression. |
