Question:I was unable to complete my fasting during the past year due to illness. What is the expiation (kaffarah) or compensation (fidyah) for that?
Answer:In the name of Allah, you are obligated to make up for those missed fasts if you are physically capable. If you are unable to make up for them by the arrival of the next Ramadan, then you should give compensation (fidyah) of three-quarters of a kilogram of food for each missed day. Allah knows best.
Question:An old woman was not aware of the religious issues properly when she was you. She broke her fast by eating impermissible food before the due time of breaking the fast. At that time, she was a child and her parents did not teach her the Islamic religion well. Must she pay atonement now?
Answer:In the name of Allah, yes she must pay if she was adult – for example nine years and above. Allah knows best.
Question:I want to know what is the atonement for a person who breaks the fast because he does not feel well and drinks water at around 2 pm. What is the atonement or punishment for this?
Answer:In the name of Allah, if he is unable to perform fasting, he has to perform a missed fasting later and there is no atonement on him. If he is able to fast even if it is with difficulty which is endurable, he has to perform a missed fasting and atone for that in addition to abstaining from the fasting invalidators for the rest of the day. The atonement for the deliberate breaking the fast is of two options: fasting two consequent months and manumit a person or feeding sixty poor people. Allah is the Guide and Knowing.
Question:Can we pay the atonement amount of Ramadhan for one poor man only?
Answer: In the name of Allah, it is not allowed. You have to stick to what we explained in our Risala Amalyia. Allah is the All Guide and knowing.
Question:I could not complete my fasting in the previous year because of a sickness. What is the atonement for that?
Answer:In the name of Allah, you must perform qadhaa fast if you are capable for it. If you could not do it by the coming Ramadhan, you have to pay a ransom (Fidyia) which is ¾ kilo of food for each day. Allah knows best.
Question:What is the atonement of breaking the fast by a haram act like masturbation, may Allah forbid?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the atonement of breaking the fast by a haram act is freeing a salve and feeding sixty people together. Allah knows best.
Question:Do we have to perform qadhaa fast for other than Ramadhan days, like a day vowed to be fasted and the like?
Answer: In the name of Allah, if you have not fasted that specific vowed day, you have to pay atonement, but you do not have to perform qadhaa fast. Nevertheless, if you fast and spoiled it by having an intercourse, you have to perform qadhaa fast and pay atonement. The atonement is either to free a slave, fast two consecutive days or feed sixty needy. Allah knows best.
Question:What is the ruling if a student in the sixth preparatory does not fast because of the studying circumstances and the pressure of the family?
Answer: In the name of Allah, he must perform qadhaa fast and pays atonement for the intentional breaking of the fast. Allah knows best.
Question:If fasting person forgets that masturbation is an invalidator of fasting and he did that while fasting, is this case like someone who had an invalidator unintentionally?
Answer: In the name of Allah, in this case he must pay the atonement and perform qadhaa fast. Allah knows best.
Question:While I was in the third intermediate school and during the final exams, I broke my fast for nine days as I had four exams and my father refused that I fast. What is the ruling?
Answer:In the name of Allah, you must perform qadhaa fast and pay atonement. Allah knows best.
